Card Groupings

Cards in RO can be a player's best friend. They offer a level of character customization that can make playing RO happen in an entirely unique way. But with so many cards to choose from, how do you know what to look for? This guide is intended to group cards in a way that will make finding the right card a breeze!

Important Notes about this Guide

Before using this guide, please note the following to help you better navigate the cards listed on this page:


  • Cards listed in each grouping are based on their face value when assigned to that group . Said differently, these cards are NOT grouped by Card Combo Bonuses, Class-Specific Bonuses, Item-Based Bonuses, or other special bonuses unless otherwise noted. Note that many cards offer additional bonuses when paired with other cards, put into specific items, or when used by a specific class.
  • Negative effects for cards are NOT listed in this guide. Keep in mind that many cards also carry negative effects that may not be mitigated unless meeting another certain condition or criteria (like being of a certain class, refine level of the equipment, card pairing and sets, etc.) Please check every card carefully in the item database before fully deciding if a card is right for you. For example, a card may carry a nice HP recovery bonus per enemy killed, but it may do so at the cost of reducing normal HP recovery by a certain percentage.
  • Cards under a heading will only contain bonus information about the pertinent category. For example, a Deviruchi Card will appear both under Stat Increases - Flat Stats and Defensive Immunity / Resistance (as it gives both a STR bonus and protects from Blindness). Next to the card name, you will only see information relating to the sub-heading it is under. For more comprehensive information about each card, click on the link to take you to the TalonRO Item Database.




For New Players: Installing & Acquiring Cards

By double-clicking the card, you can compound the card into a piece of equipment of your choice. The card does not disappear from your inventory until you install the card in a piece of equipment.

To install, the equipment must have a slot available for a card to go in. Cards only install into their own specific type of equipment category. When double-clicked, you are shown list of equipment you currently have that the card can be put in to. Right click the card to see what effect it gives, and where it can be installed.


To see if your equipment has a slot available for a card, simply mouse over the equipment in question. if it does, it'll appear with suffix [1] to [4]. An example would be "Guard [1]", which means it has 1 slot for inserting a card. Some equipment can have slots added to them via Socket Enchant.

Also, many weapons (mainly weapons that can also be bought from NPC shops) have multiple variants with different numbers of slots. For example, "Blade [3]" is store-bought, and "Blade [4]" is dropped by monsters. If a piece of equipment is destroyed because you failed when you tried to upgrade it, the equipment and all of the installed cards will be destroyed. If a piece of equipment is damaged in battle, it will not harm the cards.


You can acquire cards in different ways:

  • Most monsters in-game have a 0.04% chance of dropping their own card.
  • When opened, Old Card Albums will generate a random non-MVP card.
  • Trade or buy one from a Merchant's vending shop.
  • Buying Rank A or Rank B cards from the Reward List through Reward Guru using Talon Coins.



Throughout this guide, anytime a class is required to be eligible for a bonus, it will be marked by the lowest level applicable of that class. For example, "Swordsman Only" refers to all classes within the Swordsman branch - including Knights, Crusaders, Lord Knights, and Paladins.

Notes:

  • Generally when a player hunts, an appropriate shield with a racial damage reduction card is a very useful tool; unless a different card is a requirement for the shield slot, these cards are the main priority.
  • These cards reduce both physical and magical damage, even for attacks which ignore DEF and MDEF.
  • Alice Card reduces damage received from boss protocol monsters by 40%, but also increases damage received from other monsters by 40%.
  • Mi Gao Card reduces damage received from fort guardians by 50% during War of Emperium sieges.

Notes:

  • Flee Rate is essentially your dodge rating. It is shown as (A + B) in the stat window, where A is your AGI + any other bonuses + your base LV value, and B is the chance of performing a Perfect Dodge, which can even dodge critical attacks. Perfect Dodge is calculated before Flee, hence why it is not reduced by the mob effect, that is to say when a player has several monsters attacking him or her. Flee therefore triggers after the fact that a player lucky dodged something or not, thus giving them even more chance to flee a monster. This part of the flee is reduced by the mob effect.
  • 10 luk increases your Perfect Dodge by 1
  • No matter how much AGI you have, you cannot have more than 95% dodge rate against anything, however this does not ring true inside WoE, as players can have 100% dodge rate in these maps. Unlike Flee, it is technically possible to have 100% Perfect Dodge.
  • [1] Kavach Icarus Card adds an additional +10 Flee when compounded on a Garment with a Refine Rate of 0 to 4.

Notes:

  • These cards add 20% damage of physical attacks against the element it targets. Generally the cards that work against the four basic elements (fire, water, wind, earth) are less powerful than simply changing the element of the weapon (using blacksmith-forged weapons, for example), but can be stacked with elemental converters or a sage's endows. Players are generally of neutral element, unless their armor changes it.
  • Scorpion King card, which adds 20% more damage to Undead Element; can only be obtained from the Reward Guru for 5 Talon Coins.
  • [1] This card does work against the ghost element, but usually an elemental weapon is required. In order to use it, the weapon must first be endowed with an element. This can by done by a sage, scholar or taekwon kid's Endow skills or elemental converters, the Cursed Water item, or by a priest's Aspersio.
  • For neutral, use racial or size cards as well.

  • The Doppleganger Card increased + 25% Attack Speed. It does not increase ASPD, however, as it utilizes a different formula.

Armor Orc Lord Card Mirror Reflects 30% of all physical melee damage back to the enemy which inflicted it.
Headgear Maya Purple Card[1] of True Sight Enable its user to detect hidden enemies; unable to move while using it.

Notes:

  • Uninterrupted casting comes at the cost of increasing your casting time - either by 25% (Phen Card) or by 30% (Bloody Butterfly Card).
  • Nullification is not the same as immunity from status effects. For those, see the section on "Defensive Immunity / Resistance."
  • [1] Maya Purple Card now works in a fashion similar to a Box of Sunlight. Having it equipped enables a new skill in your skill window named Intravision. When using this, you will see hidden enemies for a duration of 10 seconds. The cooldown is currently set to 60 seconds. This card is also dually listed now under acquired skills.

  • These cards will increase a certain stat by a certain amount, then increase it further if the equipment it is placed into has an upgrade level of 9 or above. Each of these cards fit into a different Equipment Type. Often, these cards are the best to place into a highly upgraded piece of equipment, because they can increase stats beyond what other cards can do.
